BIRTHDAY PARTY IN LAS VEGAS: PART 1
(*Introduction: This trip was taken last year.)
Where do you go to celebrate a birthday if you want to do something exciting and special? Why it’s Las Vegas! The whole city is a big party-town; it’s a perfect place to celebrate a birthday for “big” girls. It is a city where you can be entertained and stimulated. It’s also a great place to win some money or lose everything.
When T’s husband contacted me to inform me that he was planning for a surprise birthday party for T and her friends in Las Vegas, I was thrilled. Regrettably, I didn’t bring up C to T’s husband because C moved away, so C was not included in our party. When C discovered our Vegas photos on social media, L was petrified and said, “We got busted.” Like a coward, L kept quiet and left me to deal with C. Thinking that food was the best medicine, I bought C dinner to mollify her, but she informed me that she would not forget the incident and would be reminding us of it, which made me cringe from guilt. She can be scary sometimes but funny.
So, after we were told that we needed to prepare for a trip to Las Vegas, L and I thought, what do we pack? Suddenly I realized that I didn’t have a proper dress for Las Vegas. I wanted a dress that could clearly send an image as “Las Vegas,” but all my evening dresses were edgy and black. I wanted something a little sleazy and something that flowed seductively. Normally, I don’t care to appear sleazy, but since I was going to Las Vegas, I wanted to look like “Vegas.”
Being short on cash, I almost gave up looking for a drop-dead gorgeous dress until I was walking past a shop window and saw a breezy, lavender dress. The dress screamed—Las Vegas! I was mesmerized by it for it was perfect for Las Vegas. The cleavage was low and revealing. I don’t like to showcase my boobs, but for Vegas, it was perfect. As if it was meant for me, the dress fit like a charm and was inexpensive. T, who still did not know that she was going to Las Vegas with us, was surprised that I was trying on a lavender dress. I rarely wore colors for I liked shadowy clothes that helped me to hide. She insisted that the dress was meant for me and we walked out of the store with my new purchase.
When L found out that I had bought a lavender dress, she was intrigued and excited. Since she wanted to purchase clothes in Las Vegas, she didn’t wish to buy anything. However, her daughters gifted her with two suitcases and she was happy that she could use them. She loved the suitcases because it was covered with pink roses—they reminded me of wallpapers. It was going to be noticeable and thus easily found on the baggage carousel. I was hoping that she would travel light but realized that it would not be the case. Anyhow, I was still excited that we would create memories and was looking forward to going to Las Vegas.
