SQUIRREL GIRL: THE EYE CANY
It was a lovely summer day. Squirrel Girl walked the boulevard lined with pretty stores. Suddenly, Wind blew her against a display window, and Girl groaned.
“Wind! Why did your push me?”
Then she saw. There was the most loveliest bracelet displayed in the window. Squirrel Girl was soon mesmerized.
“You seem to admire it,” said Wind.
Indeed, Girl could not take her eyes off the bracelet. Her face was almost touching the glass. And while she was admiring the jewelry, a tall man was regarding her.
“Why don’t you come in and try it on,” said the stranger seductively and whisked the unwilling Girl into the store.
Squirrel Girl then looked at the man. He was as lovely as the bracelet. Girl could not take her eyes off him. He had the intimidating good looks that froze her. Without meaning to, Girl found herself trying on the jeweled bracelet on her arm.
“Why! Look at that! You’ve got on an arm candy.”
Girl looked at the sparkling jewelry on her arm and also glanced at the fine-looking man—a perfect specimen.
She had only meant to enjoy feasting her eyes on the bracelet. She had no intention of purchasing it. The bracelet was meant to be an eye candy. It was too costly. To buy it, she may even have to sell her own fur to possess it. It was not feasible. Without her fur, she would be naked—exposed.
Yet, how tempting! What was one to do? Thankfully, Squirrel Girl knew. She found her foot taking a step back. She took off the bracelet and looked at the salesman. She could not own it. She dashed out of the store. Eye candy was meant for the eyes only.
Pouting, Squirrel Girl asked, “Wind, why did you cause the incident to happen?”
Did wind chuckle?
“I was bored. I wanted to see what you would do when tempted, but you knew what to do. You fled.”
“Tempted by what?”
“Good question … what were you tempted by Squirrel Girl?”
Silence. Instead of an answer Girl sighed a deep sigh. She was not going to answer for Wind wanted to hear the answer it already knew. Did Wind also know the outcome?
The incident taught Girl that Wind could get bored. She had to be more careful in the future.
